Parking Placards are the very thin laminated card stock
used to hang on the rearview mirror supports of automobiles.
They are issued to persons who meet specific medical requirements
which are attested to by a practicing physician.
Every state issues the placards based on a completed application
that must be signed by a doctor. The application is then taken
to a state agency (which can differ by state). The
placard is a permit to use handicap parking privileges and
is honored in all states.
The DiPhase Universal Placard
Protector was invented in 1994 to help maintain the life and
quality of Handicapped parking placards. The
length and width conform to the largest known placard specifications
so that even smaller aperture or smaller length and width
placards are supported thus the ‘Universal’ description.
Without a Placard Protector, handicapped parking placards
will warp and crack in your car over time; especially in very
hot and very cold climates.
All states require that the
placard only be used while parking.
That means that the placard must be installed when parking
and then removed before driving. The
continual bending of the placard hook to accomplish this means
that the hook of the placard will break off in very little
time.
The DiPhase Universal Placard Protector makes the placard
hook unnecessary. The Protector hook is guaranteed
not to break off. For placards with small apertures
the hook can simply be cut off and as long as the permit information
is intact there is no problem. Placard protectors extend the
life of regular placards saving you time and money. They will
help keep you out of the line at the agency office trying
to get a replacement.
Di Phase, Inc. Universal Placard Protectors are manufactured
using a tough, thick .080 mil clear polycarbonate. The thickness
means that the units must be milled before being bent. The
polycarbonate bending temp is 275 degrees Fahrenheit with
a continuous service temp of 250 degrees Fahrenheit making
it nearly impervious to steamy hot summer days.
